As part of the Active Citizens programme, DPNA in partnership with the British Council are working on building understanding and trust between communities by establishing an enduring global network of community leaders, who can work together to address the global issues of the 21st century.” Active Citizens” helps tackle the major challenges facing communities. These include issues arising from differences in race, religion or culture, access to sustainable livelihoods, environmental pollution and protection, health and educational opportunities, democratic participation and opportunities for women.
During 2011 – 2012 DPNA and BC were able to implement the following actions in west Beqaa, Baalbek, north and south of Lebanon:
- 7 training workshops on AC curriculum targeting 208 activists from Beqaa, North and South of Lebanon.
- Supporting 10 Social Action Projects which were designed and implemented by participants targeting around 1000 people from different areas. Check out the Active Citizens SAPs Report of 2012
- Supporting 10 Forum theater shows in partnership with Live Lactic Culture – Laban in 10 different schools in Saida city targeting students aged 16 – 18. Check out the Ineractive Theater Initiative Final Report
